The Project

Hope Rehabilitation & Vocational Training Centre

Our project will focus its efforts on orphaned and vulnerable children, both girls and boys, aged 0 to 14 years, residing in the Wakiso district.

Why this Project

In response to the global awareness highlighted by the United Nations in 2006 regarding the critical need for effective national child protection systems, our project addresses multifaceted challenges faced by vulnerable children and families. Recognizing the pivotal role of the family, we aim to make it the primary line of response.

Our efforts target the most vulnerable, seeking to reintegrate children into their families and address broader household needs in the context of HIV/AIDS, poverty, and gender disparities. Committed to reducing vulnerability, we address poverty through initiatives like maintaining children in school and providing comprehensive healthcare.

The “Hope Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre” focuses on empowering care leavers, preventing unemployment, homelessness, and exploitation. Trained social workers oversee their reintegration, considering psychosocial needs. Material and financial assistance, along with a preparatory period, will be provided, ensuring readiness for reunification or self-sufficiency.

Our commitment extends beyond immediate support, aiming to nurture holistic growth and empower children for a self-reliant future within their families and communities.

Objectives of this Project

a) Strengthening Family and Community Support:

We prioritize family roles, create a supportive environment, and prevent disintegration due to challenges like HIV/AIDS and conflicts, emphasizing community engagement.

b) Targeting the Most Vulnerable:

Focusing on reintegrating vulnerable children into families and addressing the needs of households grappling with vulnerability, particularly in the context of HIV/AIDS, poverty, and gender disparities.

c) Alleviating Vulnerability:

Our commitment is to reduce vulnerability by addressing poverty, maintaining children in school, providing comprehensive healthcare, especially HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and support, with priority given to preventive healthcare and psychosocial support for orphans, other vulnerable children, and their caregivers.

Through collaborative efforts, we systematically identify, screen, register, and categorize vulnerable children to tailor specific care and interventions for each child’s unique needs.

g) Providing Comprehensive Care and Shelter:

Our commitment extends to ensuring vulnerable children receive shelter and all basic needs during their stay at the rehabilitation and technical training center, fostering their overall well-being.

h) Offering Skills Training:
